Did you see the pictures of the latest floods to hit Venice? Seeing tourists standing thigh deep in water in St. Mark's Square really upset me. :cry:

And then I got angry when I read a quote from some French tourist saying that going out in the floods was "a lot of fun". What a Philistine.

I think I read that compared with 100 years ago, Venice is now being flooded about 20 times more frequently. Apparently, it's as much to do with silt building up in the lagoon as rising sea levels.
The sooner they complete the barrier, the better!

I think they are expecting to complete the barrier in the next 3 or 4 months. It's cost is €4.5 billion - so it better work!
