I don’t know what I’ll do when I grow up. Maybe medicine, maybe law. Maybe go into the music industry, make millions of albums and live in a huge mansion, completely minted. With so much variety in front of me, why should I have to choose my future now?
I’ve already decided what I’m doing for my A levels; Biology, Chemistry, RE and German. I mean, most universities would be happy with those four, wouldn’t they? I had a careers interview at school with the careers advisor, who helped me with my A level choices. All I have to do now is get the grades in my GCSE’s and we’re cooking on gas.
My mum is always going on about how I should study hard for my exams, because otherwise I’m going to end up as some form of hobo. Personally, I think that if I start revising too early, my head will not be able to cope with the sudden load of unnecessary information, and I’ll end up underperforming in my exams.
No-one else in my year has started revising yet, so why should I be the first? I don’t want to waste my life glued to a text book when I could be playing football, practicing music, or doing anything else that doesn’t involve mindlessly giving away my precious time.
And anyway, we’re already doing revision in school. Like in maths, we’re now just going over what we’ve been doing for the last two years. So far, so good. I’ve remembered all of the formulae and exam techniques that we’ve been taught over the course of our many lessons, and the same goes for all of the other lessons. When I get all A’s and A*’s, my mum will be laughing on the other side of her face…
